Cooking with coconut oil

topic posted Fri, February 3, 2006 - 8:38 AM by  Astrid
I just bought some coconut cream concentrate...has anyone cooked with this and is it comparable to cooking with coconut oil? I meant to by coconut oil and ended up with this so want to make sure it is good to cook with before I actually open it.
Thanks!

I made some oatmeal raisin cookies and used the coconut creme in place of some of the butter...it made the cookies a totally different consistency, almost flaky...not crumbly but more buttery like than with butter only. If you know what I mean. YUM.

I did the same thing! The coconut concentrate is really great for adding coconut flavor to soups or stews. Its just like coconut milk. I really liked it. I didn't buy it again. I really like the Nutiva coconut oil for cooking it has a lovely coconut flavor.
